Back from the B-List!

I’m back from a fun-filled weekend in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and DC where I had the pleasure of hanging with some of the world’s best bridal bloggers at the B-List Conference.  A big thanks to Anne, Vane and Maria for all their hard work coordinating everything.

It will take me a few posts to tell you all about it but I’ll start with the Friday night Meet & Greet cocktail reception at The Torpedo Factory. The space looked and sounded great (flowers by Holly Chappelle Flowers, furniture by DC Rentals and the wedding and event entertainment and bands by Elan Artists).

The fun and delicious menu was created by Design Cuisine.  There was a “Pop-Up Bar” featuring everything popped like popcorn (in every variety), pop rocks, pop tarts, etc.  Another fave was the DIY-Prosecco bar where guests could add their favorite flavorings (pear, cranberry, orange and pomegranate!).

The passed hors d’oeurves were amazing and I loved that they named each appetizer after a different B-List blogger.  I’m pleased to report that the Globetrotting Bride’s All-Over Influenced Duck Confit Taco with Asian Pear Salsa was sooo delicious!  Don’t you just want to reach into your computer screen and grab one?  I bet you do!

Stay tuned for more…

Grooms’ Week – Artwork for the Guy’s Guy!

Here’s a neat gift idea for your groom or groomsmen.  A company called BevShots is creating art for the “guys, guy” that you’ll like too.  Yes, you read that right and no, these are not posters of Baywatch babes.

Couch_Room_Shot

BevShots are pieces of art made from microscopic images of beer, wine and cocktails.  How cool is that?  The result is printed and professionally framed giving you a nice piece of art to go with your modern decor.

Click here to see some pieces made from beer like this one made from English Pale Lager.

GTB english Lager

Click here to see the art made from cocktails like this one made from a vodka tonic.

Click here to see art made from wine like this one made from champagne.

You can choose your beverage and select between canvas or archival prints and different framing options. Best of all, they start at an affordable price – $49.99 making them a great gift idea.

Skinny Girl Margaritas! Ole!

I learned on Cinco de Mayo that a typical margarita has about 740 calories! I had no idea my favorite cocktail could be as fattening as a cheeseburger…

Since I love The Real Housewives of New York, I thought I’d share with you Bethany Frankel’s recipe for The Skinny Girls Margarita that was featured on the show last week:

The Skinny Girls Margarita

On the Rocks

What you’ll need:

* 2 oz of clear Tequila (100% agave, Patron Silver) count 1, 2 while you pour, no need for measuring
* A splash of fresh lime juice
* A splash of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec

Combine all ingredients over a glass of ice

Garnish with a lime wedge and salt (or sugar) if you’d like.

Since everyone loves a margarita, why not mix up a batch of these for your next bachelorette party or summer BBQ? I think they would also make a great signature cocktail for engagement parties and weddings too.

Jonesing for a cool customized wedding touch?

I love personalized touches for wedding related events so these customized soda bottles from Jones Soda caught my eye.

Just visit myjones.com, upload your photo and personalized text, pick the soda flavor and voila, two-three weeks later, you’re personalized sodas are at your doorstep. The flavors are super-fun (think berry lemonade, blue bubblegum, fufu berry, green apple, etc.) and colorful (blue, pink, green. peach, red, etc.). I test drove three flavors and they were all delicious (must be the pure cane sugar). The flavors rotate so be sure to check the site often to find the flavor/colors that match your event.

I think they would be a really fun touch for a bridal shower, engagement party or casual wedding. I also think they’d make great party favors along with a recipe for a signature cocktail.
