It sure beats ending up with another pair of candlesticks…

Back from the B-List!

I’m back from a fun-filled weekend in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and DC where I had the pleasure of hanging with some of the world’s best bridal bloggers at the B-List Conference.  A big thanks to Anne, Vane and Maria for all their hard work coordinating everything.

It will take me a few posts to tell you all about it but I’ll start with the Friday night Meet & Greet cocktail reception at The Torpedo Factory. The space looked and sounded great (flowers by Holly Chappelle Flowers, furniture by DC Rentals and the wedding and event entertainment and bands by Elan Artists).

The fun and delicious menu was created by Design Cuisine.  There was a “Pop-Up Bar” featuring everything popped like popcorn (in every variety), pop rocks, pop tarts, etc.  Another fave was the DIY-Prosecco bar where guests could add their favorite flavorings (pear, cranberry, orange and pomegranate!).

The passed hors d’oeurves were amazing and I loved that they named each appetizer after a different B-List blogger.  I’m pleased to report that the Globetrotting Bride’s All-Over Influenced Duck Confit Taco with Asian Pear Salsa was sooo delicious!  Don’t you just want to reach into your computer screen and grab one?  I bet you do!

Stay tuned for more…

Wedding Registry Splurge: Where’s the beef?

You’ve registered for the fancy pots and pans, chic serving platters and fine china.  Why not register for a little something to whip up once you’re back from the honeymoon?

Check out this Greg Norman Wagyu Steak Collection available at Saks.com.

You’ll get two 12 oz. strips, two 12 oz. ribeyes and two 8 oz filets.  And don’t worry if you’re a novice in the kitchen, it also includes cooking instructions.

I think it would also be a fun anniversary present.

Bon appetit!

Tips from the Pros: Cocktail Frank Makeover

Today’s guest post is from Myra and Neil at Elegant Eating caterers on Long Island who catered my engagement party.

There is no doubt everyone loves pigs in blankets at a wedding or engagement party!  Cocktail franks with dough wrapped around them are good but our favorite way to serve these yummy appetizers is as Garden Franks.

How cute are these?  And they taste as great as they look.

Want to make them at home?  Just take a sheet of frozen puff pastry and cut out flowers using a cookie cutter and then cut a small whole in middle (use a soda bottle lid).  Slice hot dogs and put then in the center.   Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Place on skewers and serve in wheat grass.

Bon appetit!
