Honeymoon packing tip #14 – Don’t forget to pack a good translator app

Remember when Brenda and Donna from 90210 accidentally ordered veal brains when they were traveling in Paris?  You definitely don’t want THAT to happen on your honeymoon.

No need to be fluent in multiple languages or schlep around a big dictionary – just load one of these apps on your phone or ipad and voila, you’ll be speaking like a native.

Google Translate – Available for iPhone, iPad, iPod or Android devices, this free app gives you access to more than 60 languages!  You can type in text and hit the translate button or you can also speak a phrase into your phone and play back the translation.

google translate

i Translate VOICE – This is another great option allowing you to speak and click away to hear yourself translated into 36 languages.  You can chose the speed and sex of the translator voice which is fun too.  Available for iPhone or iPad starting at 99 cents.

i translate

Say Hi Translate – Translate your voice in 40 languages on your iPhone or iPad for less than a dollar.  You can also share your phrases via email, text, Facebook or Twitter too.

And, if you’re not hitting the road, these apps can still be handy for leaving messages for your Polish housekeeper…

Honeymoon Packing Tip #13

The airlines will only let you have one so be sure your carry on bag can fit everything you’ll need for that super long flight to Bora Bora or wherever you’re heading.

Flying First Class?

I love the hardware on this chic Kooba Lana Denim Tote and the way it tucks under your arm so you won’t knock everyone down as you head down the airplane aisle.

Flying Coach?

Nothing beats LeSportSac for lightweight bags with loads of pockets – The Passerby Handbag is nice roomy choice.

Flying Economy?

Oh Target, you never disappoint.  I love the pockets and super fun lining on this Hollywood Intuition Tote.

Bon voyage!!

Honeymoon Packing Tip #12 – Sleep on the Plane!

You can get your beauty sleep on that overseas flight and let fellow passengers you’re a newlywed with this fabulous Just Married eye mask.

A great gift for the bride-to-be.

Honeymoon packing tip #10 – Make Room for RuMe!

If you’re like me, you never know when you’re going to find something you need – on a vacation, on your way home, or as you’re heading out. Since I love the planet as much as I love shopping, I have taken to carrying a reusable tote in my bag at all times.

Sure there are lots of these on the market but my favorite comes from
RuMe. They are super small and light when folded and large enough for groceries or a day’s worth of shopping when unfolded. Best of all, they are super sturdy (think groceries for the week) and they fit perfectly over your shoulder keeping your hands free. I also discovered that they can also double as a beach bag – here we are in Anguilla last month:

They’re available in an array of sizes and patterns so order one or a few to throw in your honeymoon suitcase. They would also make nice bridesmaid gifts or destination wedding Out of Town bags.
