If you’re looking for the standard cookie cutter luxury hotel room, then the Roxbury is not for you!  When you walk into your room, you can’t help but smile at the coolness of each individually designed room. To be honest I was a bit skeptical. How can a hotel design luxury “themed” rooms?  Well, the Roxbury does it perfectly. Their themed rooms, most inspired by famous TV series of the 1960’s and 70’s focus on colors, textures and designs to bring you back to your favorite shows in a super classy way.

Rooms range from cozy studios, rooms with kitchenettes, three-room suites, all with a full array of amenities.  The entire upstairs of the main house is also available for groups that want to spread out, perfect for a bachelorette or bridal party.

Here’s a sampling of some of the fun suites:

Fred’s Lair (The Flintstones): Their own play on the Flintstones, with faux-rock walls, a pebble-stone shower and a bedspread made of fake fur.

George’s Spacepad (The Jetsons): This suite features “futuristic” furniture, metallic wallpaper, and a red bathtub right in the living room.

Genie’s Bottle (I Dream of Jeannie): I loved staying in this harem suite with a 70-gallon bathtub in a Jeannie’s-bottle bathroom, complete with a wall-mounted flat screen and lots of pinks, purples and glitter.

The Shagadelic Suite:  Offers a zebra-print sofa and mirrored mobiles in the bedroom.

The Miss Kitty’s Saloon: Is a whimsical bordello with corset lamps and red velvet everywhere.

The Digs: Their newest suite and most expensive suite, the Digs is an archeologist’s dream. It is a stand-alone cottage with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living and bar area, full gourmet kitchen, outdoor shower, outdoor deck with two dining tables, hidden treasures, maps and secret passageways.

There are two small spas on property, one in each building, with a hot tub, dry sauna, fireplace, “green steam” (steam room made entirely of recycled windshield glass), and foot-massaging river-rock shower. A $20 fee for your entire stay gets you into both spas, and is well worth it.

Breakfast is included in your stay and the delicious homemade pastries and cakes are worth the calories.  For fine dining nearby, try the Peekamoose Restaurant, whose owner and chef is Gramercy Tavern veteran.

Spring rates start at $285 a night for a two-bedroom suite.
